Quality
supplier relationships is key to unlocking value
March 2008
When
Tim Lott joined Auckland City Council Transport Division
as Group Manager of Transport Infrastructure Delivery,
he described the environment as ‘reactive’.
This environment did little to enhance the Councils
reputation with its supply base of professional services
and physical works contracting organisations.
Auckland City Council is responsible for forming the vision of New Zealand’s
largest city. Their vision is to be a sophisticated, growing and vibrant city
with a soul. They employ more than 1900 staff, making them the country’s
largest local authority.
What Tim was looking for was a modern, systemized approach that enabled the
Transport Infrastructure Delivery Group to collaborate with its diverse supply
base. A key objective was to develop deeper relationships and the ability to
work smarter together.
“We
needed to have well defined Key Performance Indicators
captured in a consistent reporting format, with standard
monthly reporting timeframes that works for both us
and our suppliers.”
These requirements lead to the implementation of Pavire through
iToolsOnline.
“The systemised approach to
running the construction business has mean’t that we can not only better
understand the performance of our suppliers but also our own performance and
what we need to lift
our game”
With the assistance of Pavire, Auckland City Council are starting to create
a highly collaborative environment with their supply base, developing quality
value-adding relationships.
“It is a positive sign when the conversations start to focus on what can
happen rather than what has happened. The incidence of unpleasant surprises has
greatly reduced over the last year with the implementation of Pavire"
Pavire improves and enhances supplier relationships.
